A list of things I've found to be cost-effective for someone living alone. Trying not to shill for any brands in particular.
| Drying Rack: It's worth it to air-dry. Your clothes last longer and you save money in long run on your electric bill. Plus air drying doesn't 'lock in' stains the way a dryer does. Also, 99% of the time you should use the 'cold' and 'regular' settings. | Rack: 40$ |
Shammy Cloths: These cheap machine-washable cloths are great for cleaning, so that you can spend less on paper towels (and create less paper waste). Keep some paper towels handy though, as there are some messes that are just better cleaned by disposables. They come in a 10-pack for like twenty bucks. | Shammy: 23$ |
| Glass Bottle: You can fill a refillable spray bottle by mixing a cheap cleaner like Fabuloso or Pinesol with water. It's more cost effective and environmentally friendly than buying pre-mixed spray. | Bottle: 10$ Fabuloso: 10$ |
| Cuban Mop: Basically a wooden and durable t-shaped stick you fold a wet washcloth over to mop floors with. Basically another use for the versatile shammy cloth, which are cheaper and easier to clean and replace than traditional mop heads. | Mop: 20$ |
| Skin Care: Unless you have special dermatology needs, you only need two products for skin care: a cleanser in the morning and a retinoid at night. For the cleanser, you're looking for niacinamide (maybe salicylic acid), and for the retinoid either retinal (0.2%) or retinol (between 0.5% and 1%). | Cleanser: $15 Retinoid: $15 |
